CONGRATULATIONS
In our last issue we congratulated Alexander Mead Bown upon his graduation from Marist College. We want to add that he not only received his baccalaureate degree, but he earned it magna cum laude.
to Ceal (Trahan) and Daniel Moran who, along with her parents, Marjorie and Bruno Trahan, shared a wedding day exactly 30 years apart and recognized the event June 20 of this year. Ceal and Daniel have been married 30 years (1980), her parents 60 years (1950). Mother and daughter shared the same wedding gown and were married in the same church, St. Joseph’s in Burlington.
to Sarah Marston who received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, on May 31. Sarah majored in French with a minor in government and legal studies.
to Alec Heilmann who received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire on May 22. Heilmann majored in English.
to Mallory Dawson and Andrea Blood who both earned placement on the Dean’s List at Hamilton College, Clinton, New York, for the spring semester 2010. A rising junior, Mallory is the daughter of Pamela and Matthew Dawson of Charlotte. Andrea will enter her sophomore year in the fall. She is the daughter of Neal and Laura Blood.

to Marcy Jean Webster, who earned placement on the Dean’s List at Keene State College, Keene, New Hampshire, for the spring term 2010.
to Kendall Frost, a student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, who earned placement on the Dean’s Honor List in the College of Architecture and Planning. Kendall is the daughter of Mike and Karen Frost.
to Charlotte Dwight, a junior at St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York, who earned placement on the Dean’s List for the spring semester 2010. Charlotte is majoring in performance and communication arts.
to Kenneth Claude (K.C.) Delorge who graduated from Trinity Baptist High School in Williston on June 5. K.C. earned the “President’s Award for Educational Excellence” as well as the “Trinity Thespian Award” from the school’s fine arts department. He also received the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award. The son of Ken and Claudette Delorge of Charlotte, he will attend Northland International University in Dunbar, Wisconsin, in the fall.
to Brennan Martin, formerly a resident of Charlotte, who graduated with honors from Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Florida, this spring. Brennan is the grandson of Nancy and Allen Martin of Charlotte.
to Lindsay Kingston, a senior at Champlain Valley Union High School who received a $2,000 Charlotte Shelburne Rotary Scholarship. Lindsay will attend Middlebury College in the fall. She said that her experience traveling to Uganda as a member of Charlotter John Koerner’s 52 Kids Foundation “had changed her life.” She has been active in the “Buddy Program” at CVU working with students who are new to the school.
to Campbell Dunsmore who earned the part of the Wicked Witch in the Saint Michaels “Playhouse Junior” production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show is scheduled for the main-stage theater of the McCarthy Arts Center on the college campus, June 19, 20, 25 and 26. Campbell is the daughter of Whitney and Barrie Dunsmore.
and thank you to Dianne Leary and Sue Smith who were instrumental in rounding up volunteers to remove waterborne European Frogbit from Town Farm Bay.
to Jan Blittersdorf, president and CEO of NRG Systems in Hinesburg and to Jim Lampman, founder and president of Lake Champlain Chocolates, who were presented with Alumni Achievement Awards by UVM president Dan Fogel on June 5. An active contributor to communities in Vermont and elsewhere, Jan was the first woman to be named “Wind Woman of the Year” for 2006 by the Women of Wind Energy (WoWE). She is listed among the 10 most “Sustainable CEOs” and is a member of the board of directors for the Institute of Sustainable Communities. She serves on the board of advisors for Vermont Technical College and is a trustee of the Fairbanks Museum.
Jim Lampman is one of Vermont’s most successful entrepreneurs, and in his presentation of the award, Fogel noted, “Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) is a prime example of the age-old dictum: quality sells.” Yankee Magazine’s Travel Guide to New England named LCC “Best of the Region,” and Boston Globe Magazine called Jim’s products “the world’s finest chocolate.”
to Sarah Bell and Leigh Sampson who ran in the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon as members of the American Cancer Society DetermiNation Athletes. They helped raise more than $30,000 to fight cancer.
to Cobey Gatos, Middlebury College student and keyboardist with the jazz and Latin fusion band “Morgani.” Morgani played a gig at Carol’s Hungry Mind Café in Middlebury on June 12.
to Liza Woodruff on the publication of her new book, How About a Kiss for Me? It’s billed as something for dads and tots alike. When one tot is all puckered out after a kissing adventure, it’s daddy who gets the last kiss goodnight.
to Daniel Boardman who was recently given the B.H. Zais Award from the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of Vermont. A principal of Hickok & Boardman Group Benefits and Retirement Solutions, he oversees the corporate retirement plan and life insurance divisions of the company. The Zais Award goes to someone who has shown “meritorious service and unselfish devotion to society and fellow-man” in advancing the “highest ideals and principles of the profession.”
to Michael Wool, whose law firm Langrock, Sperry & Wool was instrumental in sending 50 kids to the Burlington Boys and Girls Club’s summer camp program. He was quoted in the Burlington Free Press saying, “The opportunities presented by their summer program can make a tremendous difference in the life and development of a child, and we are happy to be able to support it.”
to Greg Beldock, managing partner of The Lodge at Shelburne Bay, a senior living facility that celebrated its 10 year anniversary on June 10. The Shelburne Development Review Board recently approved an expansion of The Lodge that will increase its resident capacity by approximately 65 percent.
to the following 11 and 12 year-old baseball players from Charlotte Little League who were selected to this year’s All-Stars team. The tournament begins on June 26 with regional games, followed by a statewide championship series. Charlotte Little League is comprised of players from Hinesburg and Charlotte.

is extended to family and friends of Donald John Ross of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, who passed away May 30 at the age of 75. Beside serving as CEO of Gardener’s Supply Company in Burlington, he worked for Garden Way Incorporated in Charlotte for a period of time. is extended to family and friends of Doris Wehrle Maeck of Shelburne who passed away June 10 at the age of 95. She and her husband John Van Sicklen Maeck, M.D., started the South Forty Nursery in Charlotte in the mid 1980’s, and she continued it following his death.
