Congratulations....

to Heather Heitkamp and Patrick Miner whose son John Thomas Miner was born January 10 at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington.

to the following students who earned the right to compete as one of Vermont’s 48 Presidential Scholar candidates: Emma Broderick and Caleb Ladue of Charlotte and Christina Koller of Bridport. Emma attends Phillips Exeter Academy, Caleb Champlain Valley Union High School and Christina the Lake Champlain Waldorf School. There are approximately 3,000 students nationwide vying for the honor.

to the following students from Charlotte who earned placement on the Deans List at the University of Vermont for the fall 2009 semester: Bridget Eisler, freshman, Kathryn Holmberg, sophomore, Erin Jackson, sophomore, Taylor Mahren, freshman, Alexa Mucklow, junior, Karla Plank, senior, Megan Sullivan, sophomore, Jillian Trotter, junior.

to Grace Smith, a student at Vermont Technical College in Randolph who earned placement on the Deans List for the fall semester 2009.
to former Charlotte resident and longtime Cedar Beach summer resident Bee Tabakin who received the prestigious “American Cancer Society St. George National Award” for her “relentless support of the Society’s mission to help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.” January 22 was the second anniversary of the Burlington Hope Lodge’s Lois McClure-Bee Tabakin Building.

to Tammy and Jeff Hall of the Hall-O-View farm off the Charlotte/Hinesburg Road who were awarded two top prizes in the “Hay Class” at the recent Vermont Farm Show in Barre. The Halls won “All Grass Class” and “Best of Show.” Their neighbor Don Lockhart said that his sheep concur with the judge’s opinion.

to Kimberly Burns, a student at High Point University, High Point, North Carolina, who earned placement on the Deans List for the fall semester 2009.

to Edward Fisher, a sophomore at Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut, who earned placement on the Deans High Honor list for the fall semester 2009.

to Trevor Greene, a senior at Lyndon State College, Lyndon Center, Vermont, who earned placement on the Deans List for the fall semester 2009.

to Jake Lee, a CVU student studying Auto Body and Repair at the Burlington Technical Center, who earned placement on the Center’s Honor Roll for the first semester of the 2009/2010 school year.

to the following students at St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York, who are participating in the school’s International Study Program during the spring semester 2010: Alexandra Brady, junior studying in Denmark; Emily Fisher, sophomore studying in Kenya; Casey O’Brien, junior studying in Jordan; Mia Sloan, sophomore studying in France.

to Jacob Edgar who was recognized in the February 4 Burlington Free Press for his research for unusual music through Putamayo World Music and for hosting the Public Television series “Music Voyager.” He also owns his own world-music label, Cumbancha. His public television show opened on Tuesday, February 2, at 9:30 p.m on Vermont PBS.

to Charlotte artist Annemie Curlin who was one of 10 Vermont artists selected to contribute their work to a tour of 27 towns between now and July. The exhibit will also travel to Washington, D.C. where it will be displayed at the Russell Senate Office Building. Called “Art of Action,” it is sponsored by Lyman Orton, owner of the Vermont Country Store in Weston.

to John and Luella Aube who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Addison County Eagles Club in Vergennes. They were married December 5, 1959, in Burlington and reside in Charlotte.

is extended to family and friends of Colonel Wayne Clark of Charlotte, a U.S. Air Force veteran who passed away February 2 at the age of 69. He was the son of Charlotte dairy farmer Ralph H. and Doris Clark. He served 27 years in the Air Force. His surviving family includes his wife, Faye, brothers Ralph and Steven and Steven’s wife, Buff, of Charlotte.

is extended to family and friends of Willett S. Foster IV of Charlotte who passed away February 5 at the age of 64. At the time of his death Will was CEO of Edlund Company, a manufacturer of food-service equipment located in Burlington. His surviving family includes his wife, Frances, two brothers, Stephen and James, all of Charlotte, and his four children who grew up in Charlotte, Wendy Farrington of Shelburne, Mary (Marsi) Foster of Hinesburg, Caroline Foster of Boston and Willett (Witt) Foster V of Salt Lake City. The family asks that those wishing to make a donation in Will’s name do so to the Charlotte Land Trust, P.O.
