Applications for Preschool Funding Now Available

Families residing in the Chittenden South Supervisory Union (CSSU) that have children ages three to five years old are eligible to receive funding for their children to attend a qualified pre-kindergarten program. CSSU maintains an Early Learning Partnership (ELP) with the Charlotte Children’s Center as a private provider of early childhood education services.
Since the Charlotte Children’s Center maintains a five-star level in Vermont’s Step Ahead Recognition System and is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children, it is prepared to offer developmentally appropriate kindergarten readiness programs to preschoolers in Charlotte and surrounding towns.
In order to secure a space in the Center’s pre-kindergarten program, parents should contact the Center and request an application. The Center will then notify families if there is space for their children in the preschool.
To apply for pre-kindergarten education funding, parents must fill out and submit a Publicly Funded Pre-kindergarten Enrollment Application to CSSU by March 12, 2012. The funding is for ten hours of pre-kindergarten services for 35 weeks. The application process is open to all families with children aged three to five that reside in the CSSU district.
If there are more applications than funding can support, CSSU will randomly select children for publicly funded preschool through a lottery process. To apply for CSSU pre-kindergarten funding, contact Wendy Clark, wclark@cssu.org, at CSSU for an application.
To inquire about enrollment at the Charlotte Children’s Center call 425-3328 or visit the Center’s website at charlottechildensctr.org.
