Another Burglary on Friday May 13
May 14, 2011...
The Vermont State Police are investigating a daytime burglary Friday at a home on Dorset Street. This is the second Charlotte burglary this week.
The first, on Wednesday, May 11, was at a locked residence on Bingham Brook Road sometime during the day. "Electronics" is the description given by the State Police of the items stolen.
The Friday burglary was during the daytime at a residence on Dorset Street, where construction equipment was stolen. According to Trooper William Warner, at this point, the burglaries are considered unrelated.
Trooper Warner encourages people to contact the State Police at 878-7111 if they observe suspicious persons or vehicles in their area or neighborhoods. Specific information such as license plates, vehicle and occupant descriptions and direction of travel all help. He said that the workday hours rather than night time activity is the major concern at this point.
He said the best precaution is for residents and neighborhood watch groups to communicate. Other prevention measures suggested by Trooper Warner include residential and/or commercial alarms. He said, "Even if the alarm is not registered with the State Police, it often scares intruders off before anything is taken. Sometimes the use of alarm system decals can deter a theft. There are other measures including motion lights, shrubs in front of windows, deadbolt doors and properly secured outbuildings (if available)."
