I am reminded Rip vanWinkle when I pass Charlotte Central School.
It's hard to place the character. Surely it would not be a member or the CCS School Board. Maybe the town could be seen as he of the long sleep. Perhaps I am reminded of him by the building itself.
In any event, Charlotte Central School is a daily reminder to the students and those who work there of the maxim "Penny wise and Pound foolish."
There is one thing that is certain : if we fail to pass the 2.8 million dollar bond on November 3rd, the long-neglected essential repairs will only get worse. We would fail our children and our responsibility in a one-time opening for stimulus money from the American Recovery and Readjustment Act of 2009. Long-term neglect and decay would continue to deteriorate the school rather than a 20-year fix saving it.
Everyone should be encouraged to vote November 3rd, and they should vote for the basic responsibility that the 2.8 million dollar bond would ensure.
